Quilting one block at a time....

As a sew-at-home mom, I only have the basic equipment. Just a singer sewing machine atop of a basic work table with cutting mat and rotary cutter to the left of me, and mini-ironing board to the right of me.  So to construct quilts large enough for a queen sized bed, I quilt one block at a time.  I no longer have the strength or the patience to tug and twist a whole quilt sandwich under a home sewing machine.  And, no, I don't see myself getting a long arm sewing machine anytime soon, so this is how I'm making large quilts.

This is my work in progress of  Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street mystery quilt pattern.  Here I'm in the process of quilting the 15.5 inch block with a stipple pattern in 50 wt. variegated brown thread.  After quilting all of the blocks, I will assemble them using Leah Day's method for connecting quilted blocks together with 1 inch binding on the top and 1.5 inch folded binding on the back.

I will have more pictures soon of the progress.  Happy Quilting!
